Chicago, Chicago, that Toddlin' Town

Brief History

- White City-- the 1893 World's Fair. Famous for various things like murders and gondolas, this was one of the more memorable and remarkable events in Chicago's history. Currently only one building remains on site-- that is the Museum of Science and Industry.

-Chicago's importance to America-- If you look at a railroad map, you'll notice that all the rail lines in the US connect to Chicago. Chicago was a major hub for cattle (and meat products) and was a boom town when refrigerated train cars became popular. Some of the greatest architecture can be found here as well. If you're going to visit the Midwest, this is probably your stop.

Places to Eat

- Goddess and the Baker-- the flatbread is quite good. Cubano, not so much. --two locations @ inner loop and Navy Pier

- Avec -- very fusiony tapas (come early or come late but boy the food is amazing and SO WORTH IT) -- 615 W Randolph St

Havana (loved their yucca and plantains and drinks-try the caipirinha) -- 412 N Clark St

Lincoln Park Farmer's Market

Great food, great produce! Try the pizza (or the crepes, or both)! Open Saturdays from 7am-1pm.

Thin crust black and white pizza with an egg on top. Wow.

And dessert is important, so make sure you hit up Jenis Ice cream.

Places to go:

On a nice day, it's totally worth a walk to the Adler Planetarium to look at the city.

Rainy day? Well, there's this great science museum (Museum of Science and Industry) that happens to be the last original building from the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. It's got a great mirror maze exhibit, and a cool health exhibit.
