Rally Day 1: Driving from Fontainebleau to Gerardmere

Today we had a wonderful start at the Chateau de Bourbon in Fontainebleau (font-anne-bluh).

Though Kevin had a bit of a rough morning-- 40 minutes into the rally, he tried to pass on a fairly narrow road and ended up spinning a 180 into a ditch. He really hasn't had a lot of driving time with the Mustang, and it's nothing like a modern car. Luckily, no one was hurt, and the car still ran.

However, we all landed up in the region of Champagne, where champagne comes from!

Gerardmere, as it turns out, is a ski resort town. It's nestled in the mountains and was very pleasant. Everything looked like a Swiss chalet. The Rally Round folks were nice enough to let us join in for dinner.

And then we had dinner in Gerardmere.
